Turning Pain Into Purpose
The story behind Kiara Sewell Advocacy for Victims and Families of Violence.
Founder’s Story

Kiara’s Legacy

Kiara Sewell’s life continues to inspire the work of Kiara Sewell Advocacy for Victims and Families of Violence.
Although her life ended far too soon, her legacy lives on through every family we support, every child we encourage, every community we strengthen, and every life we help impact.
KSAVFV was established in her honor with the belief that one life can inspire lasting change. Her legacy reminds us that every victim deserves dignity, every family deserves compassion, and every community deserves opportunities to heal and prevent future violence.
In her memory, we are committed to expanding programs that educate youth, support grieving families, promote healthy relationships, encourage accountability, and connect individuals with resources that foster hope and restoration.
Kiara’s name also lives on through the proposed Kiara Sewell-Joiner Act, an initiative intended to strengthen protections for victims and encourage policies that prioritize public safety and accountability while respecting the legal process.
While we can never replace the person we lost, we can honor her life by working every day to build stronger families, safer communities, and a future where fewer families experience the pain of violent loss.
Her legacy is not defined solely by how her life ended. It is defined by the hope, compassion, courage, and positive change that continues to grow in her name.
Forever remembered. Forever loved. Forever inspiring change.
